Change of Enrollment
Any subsequent changes to your schedule must be submitted to the Veteran Certifying Official immediately. Frequent class changes are hard for the Office of WVU Veterans Affairs to track, and greatly increase the chance that you will be paid incorrectly. Reducing your credit hours after your enrollment has been certified to the VA may result in an overpayment to you which you will be responsible for repaying to the VA. Report any mitigating circumstances (reasons for withdrawal due to illness, work conflict, death of a family member) along with one of the following methods to determine the actual last date of attendance: 1) attendance record of the professor, 2) grade report, 3) last date on which an examination or other papers filed, or 4) last day of activity in the instructor’s records. The last date of attendance is extremely important in the event that a student completes a semester with all F grades. Lacking this evidence, the Office of WVU Veterans Affairs is required to report students with a WVU determined last date of attendance as having never attended which will create an overpayment of benefits to the student making the student liable for repayment to the VA. Having mitigating circumstances does not guarantee that the VA will waive an overpayment incurred by an enrollment change.
